Jaffe from Russia to Chicago

I'm new to this search and would appreciate any help. My father was David Jaffe, son of Hillel and Malke (Molly. Hillel was born 1866. They came from Russia to Chicago. Children were (to the best of my knowledge) Mary, Clara, Joseph, Samuel, and David. My father married my mother, Gertrude Lopaty in Chicago 1931. Father passed away when I was very young - and had no contact with his family - so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Linda,

Hi,
I'm interested in connecting with any relatives of Jacob Jaffe. He was born in Russia circa 1894 and died in New York City in 1938. He had 1 sister and 3 brothers, all much older than he was. His father's name was Hertz (sp?) Sister's name was Fanny (married to Morris Krasner), a brother Gershon (called Harry), brother Mendel (called either Max or Morris) and a brother named Joseph. And he had a cousin whose last name was Chayevitz (sp?)
His wife's name was Rebecca and his daughter Diana.
I'm the granddaughter and would love to be in touch with any relatives.

Hi all,
I am looking for anyone with a connection to Jaffe/Jaffa originally from Riga, Latvia but ended up in the Bethnal Green, England area.
I know around 1910 they changed from Jaffa to Jaffe and my great grandmother also changed her maiden name from Goldschmid to Goldsmith.

Paul F. Jaffe is my husband's grandfather. He ran a shoe store in Carthage, Missouri called Jaffe's Shoes. He and his wife Lillian Jaffe have both passed away.

I have seen other websites where they said that the Kaunas family name originally immigrated through the port of Boston instead of Ellis Island. Kaunas is Lithuanian. Perhaps Jaffes immigrated through Boston as well. Good luck.

I found an old black & white photograph in an antique store of a young man in a military outfit standing in front of a body of water. On the back is written: "Roomate, Marvin Jaffe, 1946".

Might this belong to someone? I'd be happy to scan it.

Herbert Jaffe of Thieriot Avenue, New York

I am seeking any new information on Herbert (B?) Jaffe, son of Nathan and Ray Jaffe, born circa 1916, New York, on behalf of a friend of mine. Herbert trained as a school teacher at the Teacher's College of Columbia University, and his family's address was 1500 Thieriot Avenue, New York, during the late 1930s and early 40s. He spent approximately 9 months as a student at a teacher's school in Mende, France during 1937/38. We believe that he enlisted in the Army at Camp Upton, Yaphank, in August 1941, but have been unable to find any further confirmable information about him, after this date. We'd be grateful for any leads on his later years, and on any possible descendants or relatives out there.

Margaret, that is wonderful, thank you! We had tentatively linked 'our' Herbert to Abyna (nee Wolfe) via the recorded death of a son, Thomas Elliot Jaffe, to this couple, in 1945, and to the Herbert B. Jaffe of Roselle, but had no positive proof that they were one and the same man, until now. My friend will be over the moon at this confirmation of our 'guesswork'.
