I have seen other websites where they said that the Kaunas family name originally immigrated through the port of Boston instead of Ellis Island. Kaunas is Lithuanian. Perhaps Jaffes immigrated through Boston as well. Good luck.

Herbert Jaffe of Thieriot Avenue, New York
I am seeking any new information on Herbert (B?) Jaffe, son of Nathan and Ray Jaffe, born circa 1916, New York, on behalf of a friend of mine. Herbert trained as a school teacher at the Teacher's College of Columbia University, and his family's address was 1500 Thieriot Avenue, New York, during the late 1930s and early 40s. He spent approximately 9 months as a student at a teacher's school in Mende, France during 1937/38. We believe that he enlisted in the Army at Camp Upton, Yaphank, in August 1941, but have been unable to find any further confirmable information about him, after this date. We'd be grateful for any leads on his later years, and on any possible descendants or relatives out there.

We had tentatively linked 'our' Herbert to Abyna (nee Wolfe) via the recorded death of a son, Thomas Elliot Jaffe, to this couple, in 1945, and to the Herbert B. Jaffe of Roselle, but had no positive proof that they were one and the same man, until now. My friend will be over the moon at this confirmation of our 'guesswork'.

I'm their grandson's wife. Paul died in MO and his wife Lillian had moved down to Texas with one of her daughters (my mother in law) before she passed away in 1998. I know that it has been quite a while since you have posted it but they have both passed away. I'm sorry you weren't able to reach them.

I'm not sure if this is exactly who you're looking for, but in my family tree I have a Reuben (sometimes written as Reuven) Jaffe from Lithuania who married a woman named Pauline. Reuben is the son of Mende (born 1860) and Frieda (born 1862); I don't have Reuben's birth year, but he has siblings born between 1885 and 1901 so it would fit.
Could Pauline be the Polly you're thinking of? This is a branch of my large family tree where my notes are quite incomplete. Do you know the names of any of Reuben's siblings so we can try to verify this?

Fannie Jaffe
I'm looking for a Fannie Jaffe and her daughter, whose name I don't know but was married to Sam Goldstein. They would have lived in Pittsburgh about the end of the 19th century. Fannie died in 1904. Any help would be awesome!

Interested to know who your husband's father is. Paul Jaffe married Lillian Rosenblum, who was a 1st cousin of my late father-in-law Louis Rosenbloom. I believe the shoe store in Carthage may have been owned at one time by Lillian's father Morris Rosenblum.
